Our Final Thriller Opening: Missed

We managed to complete our final version of our thriller opening in time for the deadline. So we posted it up for you to watch and ENJOY !

Completing Our Final Version

We added titles onto our opening using FinalCut Pro instead of Live Type as it would be a lot easier. We were even able to create a 'Frigid' effect on it

We created our own sound for our thriller by messing around and trying out different sounds until we found a perfect combonation of sounds to add to our sequence

We then adding the sounds to FinalCut Pro to match the music with the action happeneing

Changes for final cut - Editing

Our rought cut showed to us that we needed to edit more to make our transitions clearer and to make the film seem more thrilling than it does so far. The shakey effects make the flashbacks seem more hard to take in, due to the mental state of the character. Our edits need to relate to our film as much as possible so we will add more and clean up existing effects that are included in our thriller opening

Changes for final cut - Sound

From our rough cut we realised a few things needed to be changed or added; sound-wise.

For our Final Cut we need to add the soundtrack which will consist of deep breaths, childrens laughter and sounds that resemble the sounds in the thriller opening for the movie 'Se7en'. The sound track will have to be completed one we get the chance to edit the film along with it. Hopefully, we will be able to take away any unnecessary background sounds from the shots and add the sounds needed to give our thriller opening the full effect.

Filming Take 2

This was the first time we used  the lighting equipment. This allowed us to make the lighting throughout the house looked similar

Filming, Take One !

We were setting up the camera to film our second shot yet had difficulties as the tripod wasn't straight and the car which was parked right outside the house made it hard for us to be able to set the right shot of the door without it being too close. In the end we put the camera behind the car and extended the tripod to make it taller so it looked over the car, didn't get the car in the shot and captured the door perfectly

The stairs located in the house create a airy and ghost like atmosphere as the floor doesn't have carpet to add a homely effect to the the house

The white board is used in a shot to state a message from our character or could even be used as part of the mise-en-scene for which will show the titles.

These images show us opening doors. This technique is used as the scene is shot using a hand held camera to show what the camera sees as he walks through his house. We needed to open the doors yet stay hidden so we wouldn't be seen in the shot as this would add to the unnatural theme of our thriller as it would seem like the doors are opening themselves.

After going through our pitch and doing the changes and critisism which our teachers gave us WE ARE NOW READY TO FILM.

Pitch

With the feedback we had received from the teachers after presenting our pitch, we decided to rethink our initial idea and change it so that it would be more suitable for our target audience.
It was suggested that we thought about the content of the film, for example our main idea of having a man playing with children and holding them hostage may have been too close to the subject of peadophilia, so as a group we came together and thought of another idea. Our pitch was edited and our new idea had been created. It uses the same idea of the male, lonely, psychotic character but we changed it to him being alone because of the murder of his family. The locations, some of the planned shots and lightig ideas have stayed the same, but some ideas now have slight differences.
